Tigers claw their way through a close one! |

Tigers pitcher Ryan Paylor gave up a walk and single in the 1st inning that turned into 2 runs when Tigers 3rd baseman could not convert on a ground ball that would've ended the inning. Paylor seemed to have settled into his groove after the 1st inning striking out 6 of the next 11 batters he faced. With the help of his defense Paylor ended up pitching a complete game with no earned runs and 7 K's.
Blacksox pitcher Nelson Reyes kept the Tigers at bay for the first 3 innings striking out 2 and getting out of a few jams leaving 6 Tigers runners stranded on base through 4 innings. The Tigers stranded a total of 12 men throughout this contest but still managed to scrape some runs off of some timely hits. The biggest one which came off of the bat of Tigers SS Angel Estevez. Estevez hit a two run Home Run to left, then left fielder Duane Medina and 2nd baseman Jorge Castellanos chipped in with RBI's of their own. The bats stayed hot in the 5th as Tigers 3rd baseman Garvi Aries led off the inning with a deep shot over the center field wall for his 1st home run of the season, followed by Jorge Castellanos' 2nd RBI which made the score 6-3 Tigers and that seemed to be enough to carry the Tigers over the defending champion Blacksox.
The Tigers get a much needed bye this week to tend to the onslaught of injuries they have endured early this season. They will return to work on November the 10th as they take on the South Florida Dodgers at American High. Game is slated for a 12 O'clock start.
