In this particular color commentary the reference is LIFE IN THE FAST LANE, from the Eagles classic album HOTEL CALIFORNIA. Are you with me so far? Glen Frey the Superstar co-lead singer of the Eagles was on his way to a poker game in a corvette doing 90 MPH. He brilliantly told the drug dealer driver Life in the Fast Lane “ would make a great song title ! And so it came to pass …more to follow…. On a beautiful sun splashed 80 degree morning at meticulous Sabal Pines Park, the Southern Yankees were running all morning in the fast lane of the base-paths. They cruised to a 18-4 shellacking of the classy South Florida Angels. Luis Sanchez stroked 4 hits to lead the balanced attack as the Yankees bats finally broke out. Jerry Wichert, Kenny Silberling & Reidy Olivo smacked 3 hits each in the contest. Steve Sandman & Bobby ARM Esposito clubbed 2 hits apiece also for the Yankees. The Angels had a chance for a triple play mid game. With the bases loaded a ball was hit in the gap where the Angels outfielder made a spectacular leaping catch. The Yankee runners didnt see the stop sign but missed taking a turn for the worse after the catch. It was like the Sandlot as the Yankees runners fast lane scrambled to re-tag up and the Angels were throwing the ball all over the place botching the triple play and allowing 2 runners to score. Many of our players had never seen a play like that in all our years and what could have been an easy triple play turned into disaster. Bobby Stallone was once again an artist on the mound keeping the Angels off their halos. So in closing try and stay eager for action and hot for the game of life like the lyrics say. You all have what it takes to succeed no matter what they are throwing at you. So despite what your status is in life, AND even if you are too tired to make it like th esong says, you have got to always fight back about it'. .Also remember and know that sometimes life in the fast lane can result in spectacular results even if its only fleeting and brief.... You miss 100% of the shots you don't take - Gretzky'. The Southern Yankees continue their season with a game against the tough Kendall Metz on Sunday morning in Coral Springs. Hope
